A wide, shallow disc sits at the end of a long straight arm, and a single bulb hangs just beneath it. That is the whole of the Upton Wall Sconce, and the restraint is the point: the 12-inch shade screens the bulb from eye level and sends its light down onto whatever sits below it, a pillow, a book, the top of a dresser, while the arm holds the fixture well clear of the wall.
The arm is fixed and long. Measured from the backplate to the far edge of the shade, the sconce projects 16.5 inches, stands 6 inches tall and mounts on a 5-inch round backplate. That reach is what makes it a reading light beside a bed or at the end of a hallway, and it is also the number to check before installing it where people pass close to the wall. Four finishes are offered on the same brass and metal construction: brass, antique brass, black and chrome.
It is hardwired to a wall box, with installation by a certified electrician recommended. It takes one E27 LED bulb, not included, so the bulb shape and color temperature are chosen at installation, and dimming is available on request.
