One open ring of aluminum, with a frosted acrylic diffuser along its underside, makes up the whole Quinlan, so the light comes from a thin circle and the ceiling shows through the middle. At 2 inches deep it adds almost nothing below the ceiling line, and with no bowl or panel to fill, the ring reads as a drawn line rather than an object.
Four diameters are offered: 11.8 inches at 25W, 15.7 inches at 40W, 19.6 inches at 61W and 23.6 inches at 71W. The smallest suits a compact bedroom; the 15.7- and 19.6-inch rings cover a typical bedroom; the 23.6-inch ring is sized for a living room. Black and white come in all four sizes, and gold starts at 15.7 inches.
The LED is integrated, so there is nothing to replace, and dimming is available on request. It hardwires to a standard ceiling box and runs on 90-260V. Under an 8-foot ceiling the 2-inch profile keeps the ring well clear of heads and door swings, which makes it just as useful in a room with a lower ceiling.
