Part sculpture and part light, the Elstow Wall Sconce puts a gold-toned bird on a black rod arm that runs out from a round black backplate. Its underside is frosted acrylic, so when the integrated LED is on the belly of the bird glows while the polished upper body catches the light. Switched off, it still reads as a bird perched on the wall rather than a fixture waiting to be used.
Two versions share the design. The 1-light is 8.3 inches wide and 7.1 inches tall, with a single bird on a short horizontal arm and a 3.1-inch round backplate. The 2-light adds a second bird on a vertical rod above the first, bringing it to 11 inches wide and 15 inches tall on a 4.7-inch backplate. The smaller one suits a narrow wall beside a bed; the taller one has the presence for a living-room wall or the space above a hallway bench.
It is hardwired: the fixture connects to the house wiring at a wall box and is best installed by an electrician. The LED is built in and draws 5 watts per bird at a warm 3000K, and dimming is available on request. Mounted at headboard height, a pair of the 1-light version frames a bed with a low, warm glow for reading or winding down.
